Colonial Charters Golf Club

Colonial Charters golf course, architect Rick Robbins, has imaginatively recreated thiscourse by adding lush bent grass greens and two waterfalls that cascade invitingly to create an atmosphere of serenity. The course, being the newest course to Myrtle Beach, offers a stimulating layout for golfers of any skill level and 6,506 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par 71. Even though the course has been redesigned, the second hole is the only one that remains unchanged. Placed just off the beaten path, Colonial Charterss has several unforgettable holes definedby centuries old hardwoods and water hazards that are strategically placed. The coursewas designed to contend with some of the newest and more appealing courses in the area.

Colonial Charters Golf Club

The layout curves around the natural roll of land formations that are one of Myrtle Beach's best-known characteristics. Colonial Charters offers 18 unique holes that provide amazing views of man-made waterfalls and verdant Norman Bermuda fairways. The greens are not unreadable, but they will offer any player a formidable challenge. Located just off Highway 9 in the North Myrtle Beach area, Colonial Charters is easily accessible from any point in Myrtle Beach, Surfside and Calabash. We had the course almost to ourselves. Early tee times are the way to go to beat the heat of the day. Not the most challenging course but it was fun to play and it would be on my list of places to go back to when I am in the area.

$20 bucks (afternoon) for 18 challenging and creative holes. Lots of water. Fairways were in good condition, greens were solid. Homes are very close to the course so be warned. I liked it though, sometimes I had an audience at the tee or green. Easily the best course dollar for dollar I've played. Note: no driving range. Will be returning.

Maybe worst course I’ve played in myrtle area been playing for 3 years never seen a course so hard was like hitting off concrete, no possibility to get loft on ball. Horrific staff had a group of 8 waiting on the foursome ahead of us and the very uneducated ranger made us skip a hole and go around the foursome. Very unprofessional then sets us behind another foursome and had to play with them. The front 9 with 8 players took 2 hrs the back 9 with 4 took 3 and a half from waiting and then having to drive back to hole 12 to finish after complaining we weren’t paying full price for for 17 holes on a horrific course i much more suggest a different course 56$ for locals on a 3/10 course when you can get into courses in pawlys island for same price and better course. Course is a joke do not spend your money if you’re a tourist it’s the same thing as a golf course up north. Horrific.

Most of the fairways and tee boxes were in relatively good shape. Some of the red tee boxes could use some overseeding or new grass. It was interesting to see some very narrow and then some very wide fairways. Green's were varied from quite small to quite large and we're rolling very well. Several of the greens were undergoing repairs so should be in better shape shortly. Overall a medium challenging and visually appealing course great for most levels of golfers.

Course was fine for us who are terrible golfers. We had a good time. Not super thrilled though about being charged for carts. Booked a foursome online and paid ~$140. It very clearly says that this includes carts. Got to the course and was charged additional for carts.

First time playing, and last time playing here. Had the first tee time of the morning, showed up and put our own bags on the cart, while the worker was talking with “locals”. Started us off on #10, and as we made the turn back to start the front nine, the bag guy proceeded to tell us we had to wait over 50 minutes to finish our round. Only to look at the first hole where there were 3 foursomes on 1 hole. We decided to leave after 9 and will not be back. Bag boy did not understand why we left and proceeded to argue with us in front of other players. Not a good look. Also course wasn’t in the best shape

Excellent greeting by the gentlemen upfront took our bags right away and got us set up immediately and was actually very funny too. Great great course for the money especially. I would play over and over and over. This course is definitely do-able for the 20+ handicappers even higher. It’s a lot of fun. It’s not to hard. But parts of it can be very challenging.

This was a very nice course. The greens were immaculate. The gentleman in the pro shop needs to have a better attitude. The cart attendant made up for it and was very helpful. Highly recommended course. Easy to navigate on the website to book your tee time. Also saw a black squirrel.

The day we played was cart path only not much you can do about that but it was obvious that the work the grounds crew did earlier made the situation worse. Large tracks, that were in play, were the crew drove over. The course probably should have been closed for play until it dried out. As it was, there were not any times that we could play our balls as they laid. I would be interested in seeing how the course plays when it is dry? My guess the water problem would be resolve but I'm not sure the course could ever be refereed to as 'in good shape'.

I like this place cause I live here. I have been to a few other courses that are much prettier. the cart path is eroded & often muddy . the course is interesting but could be landscaped prettier. I know the designer was going for a natural look but the greens can look like a kids baseball sand lot.

This place was very nice. The pond nice and full of fish and the course very well planned. It went down hill when they took sections out of the courses for houses and put them in the back yard of other neighbors backyards which was a big problem. It was great until this happened.

Greens were pretty decent but a little slow. Number of bare spots on some of the fairways was biggest issue. Good pace of play for 12:30 tee time. Fairways are fairly narrow although course is somewhat short from gold trees. We normally play white but with some par 3s near 200 yards we chose gold. Decent amount of water to make some challenge. Serious golfers probably want to skip but for average golfers not bad value at $30 on the passport .

I like this course. It's usually drier than most so the ball rolls out further. The greens are receptive. The layout is nice. Reachable Par 5's. 4 reachable Par 4's with perfectly hit Drivers. It's not esthetically pristine, but it has its own difference in how it plays. Hot dogs are hot dogs.

I live on this course. Seems a bit overpriced. The condition of the course is spotty. Some holes will be great others will be water logged around the green for no reason. Some tee boxes could be in better condition. Still a fun course to play. Afternoons are not busy at all!
